Thomas and Nancy Hanks Lincoln were parents of Abraham Lincoln. At his childhood his family faced bad condition. His father lost everything when Abraham was young and they had to move to Perry County, Indiana. And when he was just 9 years old, his mother died and his sister Sarah took care of him until his father remarried. From his childhood, he was passionate book reader. Reading those books was self-education. He borrowed books and the Bible to get educated because he had no formal school life. His self-education was teaching himself concepts of grammar, history, mathematics, and law. Then he did different types of jobs before he settled as a highly successful lawyer. He was gradually drawn to politics. At his time, the country discriminated black and white people, where white owned large farms and black worked on those farms as slaves. So, he thought to bring the equality of man in country. Then, he joined the U.S. Congress in 1845 and won the election and served as a congressman for one term. He looked forward to become a President of the United States.   In 1860, he won election and was inaugurated as president in March of 1861. He became the first president who had a full beard and the tallest president at 6 feet 4 inches tall. His legacy became iconic for American nationalism and freedom. He had his own policies which was not well digestive for many peoples. His term in office was occupied primarily with the defeat of the secessionist Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. The Civil War began on April 12, 1861 at Fort Sumter in South Carolina just a month after Lincoln took office. During Civil War, he fought the war bravely and won the equal rights for slaves. He introduced measures that resulted in the abolition of slavery, issuing his Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and promoting the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution. He tried to preserve the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the federal government, and modernized the economy. He was re-elected president in November of 1864. The War lasted for four years and cost the lives of 600,000 Americans. Finally the war ended on April 9, 1865 when General Robert E. Lee surrendered at the Appomattox Court House in Virginia. Soon after the Civil war ended he died on April 25, 1965. President Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth while attending a play at the Ford Theatre in Washington D.C. Then Lincoln became the first American president to be assassinated; he had the largest funeral in the nation's history and his legacy became iconic for American nationalism and freedom. Now, he is considered as important person behind the equality in American society.

Taking about his relationship, he first dated Ann Rutledge. They did not formerly married and Ann died at the age of 22 on August 25, 1835, most likely of typhoid fever. Then he became close with Mary Owens from Kentucky but again the relationship was for the short temper. In 1840, Lincoln became engaged to Mary Todd. Then they married on November 4, 1842, in the Springfield mansion of Mary's married sister.
